My academic pursuits always benefited greatly from my professional experiences working in Guatemala and in the US as a architect and professional planner for several years.
My main areas of academic interest include: long-term impacts of globalization, sustainability, transnationalism, cultural syncretism and how all those processes are reflected in human settlements. Since I move to the US, I have also developed a strong interest in transnational and comparative studies between Mesoamerican communities and the US. My future career goals include pursuing a Doctorate degree, and become a public intellectual with the capacity to bridge the academia and community, with a particular focus on transnational communities in America.
My volunteer work with professional organizations over the last years has focused on promoting inclusion and celebrating our diversity. This website includes some information and links to some of those organizations.
My recently discovered hobby of photography is a way that I use to share my travel experiences with colleagues, family and friends.
